In an exclusive interview with Glenn Diesen, prominent economist and geopolitical analyst Jeffrey Sachs exposes the dangers of Israeli-American aggression against Iran. Sachs emphasizes that it is a "structural madness" - a combination of decades of Israeli obsession with domination, American imperialism, and religious fanaticism that threatens world peace.
1. Netanyahu's Strategy: From 'Clean Break' to Regional Collapse
Roots of Violence : Netanyahu has been pursuing the " Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm " plan since 1996 ( a 1996 study written by American neoconservatives, including Perle's advisor Richard Perle ). The document calls for:
Rejection of peace negotiations with the Palestinians
The overthrow of the so-called regimes in Iraq, Syria and Iran
The expansion of Israeli influence throughout historic Palestine.
Failed methods : Reliance on assassinations (Mossad) and airstrikes is, according to Sachs, the driving force behind chaos – the fall of Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein sparked years of civil wars and unstable puppet regimes.
False assumption: Netanyahu believes that after the fall of the theocracy ( a religiously-led government where the clergy holds political power ), Iranians will greet Israel as "liberators." However, this ignores Iranian nationalism .
2. The Role of the US: From 'America First' to Trump's Militarism
Ambiguous policy : Trump's initially anti-war rhetoric has been overshadowed by aggressive practice:
Covert support for an Israeli attack on Iran during active peace negotiations ( Sachs: "mafia tactics" ).
Sending US troops to the region with orders to evacuate Tehran .
Hypocrisy of the West : Despite public calls for "de-escalation":
They automatically defend Israel's "right to offensive self-defense."
They ignore violations of international law (e.g. attacks on nuclear facilities).
3. Global Consequences: Nuclear Dominoes and War at the Tipping Point
Dangerous Dynamics : The attack on Iran triggered a war at a tipping point – a nuclear power (Israel) attacks a non-nuclear state, creating a deadly spiral:
Iran now feels an urgent need for nuclear weapons .
Preemptive strikes are becoming a global precedent (India-Pakistan, USA-North Korea).
Response of major forces :
Russia and China can equip Iran with missile systems .
Closing the Strait of Hormuz (30% of the world's oil) would trigger an economic crisis.
Nuclear revelations and facts :
“Israel has (80-100 nuclear warheads), Pakistan (160) and the American presence in the region turns the conflict into a game of atomic dominance ” – Sachs.
4. Religious fanaticism: 'God wants our Armageddon'
Evangelical Influence : Up to 40% of Trump's base is made up of evangelical Christians , who believe that the Jewish conquest of Jerusalem could trigger the coming of Christ. Sachs further reveals this, i.e. "I get emails: 'Mr. Sachs, it's all foretold in prophecy.' "
Solution or collapse?
Sachs calls for:
An immediate end to Netanyahu's doctrine of preemptive violence.
International pressure on the US to cut military aid to Israel and return to the 2015 nuclear deal.
The exposure of religious fanaticism that presents nuclear destruction as "God's plan."
Without action, the Middle East will become the epicenter of a new world war – where preemptive strikes and nuclear proliferation become the norm.
